In 2007, the Old City had a population of about 3000 people. In December 2000, the Old City of Baku, including the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and Maiden Tower, became the first location in Azerbaijan to be classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Baku Boulevard- established in 1909 runs parallel to Baku's seafront. Its history goes back more than 100 years, to a time when Baku oil barons built their mansions along the Caspian shore and when the seafront was artificially built up inch by inch.
Little Venice- The Little Venice in Baku is the great & clean refreshing park to walk and relax with kids or the family. Very beautiful & astonishing surroundings. Feels like you are away from city yet in the city. Unique & lovely relaxing atmosphere. You can take a ride in gandolas (venetian boats), take the pictures, and just enjoy the trip.
Visit to Upland Park for panoramic view to the city-The highland park Baku is the highest point of the capital of Azerbaijan, from where a beautiful panorama of the city and the bay opens. People from Baku and tourists often come here to see Baku from a bird’s eye view, as well as just take a walk.

Ateshgah temple- is an authentic Azerbaijani exotic. It is well-known practically all over the world. It is located 30 km from the center of Baku in the suburb of Surakhany. This territory is known for such unique natural phenomenon as burning natural gas outlets (underground gas coming onto surface contacts oxygen and lights up). The temple in its present state was constructed in the 17th-18th centuries and built by the Baku-based Hindu community related to Sikhs.
However, the history of the Temple is even longer. From immemorial times this was the holy place of Zoroastrians- fire worshippers (approximately beginning of our era). They attributed mystical significance to the inextinguishable fire and came there to worship the relic.
Burning mountain- Yanar Dag or the Fire Mountain is one of the magically attractive sites, which surprises and enchants visitors. It seems like a brilliant sparkling on the mountain surface. People have always regarded the magnificent view of Yanar Dag as something "sacred".
Heydar Aliyev center- Construction of the Center’s facility was launched in 2007 and completed on May 10, 2012, to celebrate the National Leader’s 89th anniversary. Recognized as one of the world’s masterpieces in architecture, the Heydar Aliyev Center has immediately grown into a signature architectural landmark of modern Baku. Zaha Hadid, the author of the building's design, is a worldwide recognized architect and the winner of the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize.

Qobustan -Gobustan State Reserve located west of the settlement of Gobustan, about 40 miles southwest of the centre of Baku was established in 1966 when the region was declared as a national historical landmark of Azerbaijan in an attempt to preserve the ancient carvings, mud volcanoes and gas-stones in the region.Gobustan State Reserve is very rich in archeological monuments, the reserve has more than 6,000 rock carvings, which depict primitive people, animals, battle-pieces, ritual dances, bullfights, boats with armed oarsmen, warriors with lances in their hands, camel caravans, pictures of sun and stars, on the average dating back to 5,000-20,000 years.Gobustan State Historical and Cultural Reserve acquired national status in 2006. As a part of the 31St Session of the UNESCO World Legacy Committee held in Christchurch, New Zealand on June 23 - July 2, 2007 included within the World Social Legacy List.
Mud Volcano-Azerbaijan has the most mud volcanoes of any country, spread broadly across the country. 350 of the 800 volcanoes of the world are in the Azerbaijani Republic. Local people call them “yanardagh” (burning mountain), “pilpila” (terrace),“gaynacha” (boiling water) and “bozdag” (grey mountain) alongside its geographical name – mud volcanoes.
First drilled oil well-The world's first-ever mechanically drilled oil well (World's First Oil Well) in 1846, located in the Bibi-Heybat settlement 10 kilometers west of Baku. The well produced the first gush of oil in 1847 and was just 21 meters deep at that time.

Sheki Khan Palace the most outstanding and valuable monument from the 18th century in Azerbaijan is the Sheki Khans’ Palace. It was built in 1752-1762 as the summer residence of Hussein-khan Mushtad, grandson of the great Gadzhi Chelebi. The uniquely beautiful two-storied palace features a magnificent interior and exterior.
Karavansaray - importance of caravanserai existing in the territory of Azerbaijan at that time and favored construction of new ones. Generally caravanserai were built in form of castles with one gate, closing of which made them impregnable during dangerous incidents.
